Scholarship Program – Rules and Procedures

The Lincoln Agricultural Society with the co-operation and support of the Niagara 4-H Association is pleased to present their 2008 Scholarship Programme. Through this program we hope to develop an awareness of the importance and benefits of higher education. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

Number and Amount of Scholarships

There will be three [3] scholarships awarded annually. The amount of these scholarships will be $1500. $1000, and $750. All other qualified applicants will receive $100.

Eligibility Requirements of Applicants

 These scholarships will be available to current members of Niagara 4-H who have completed at least six projects and are going on to attend a recognized post-secondary education program with a minimum duration of 12 weeks.

 Applicants may reapply in subsequent years, if they meet the requirements, but may only win a scholarship once in their 4-H career

 Application Information

Applications must be received by the Lincoln Agricultural Society by July 31, 2008.

Applicants will provide a written application to the LAS including their name and contact information, school and 4H club, as well as;

         A copy of their academic report cards for their last year of secondary school.

·         A list of the applicants’ extra-curricular activities, including athletics, clubs and community service.

·         A brief essay [~ less than 500 words] discussing their personal goals and objectives.

All personal information received with the applications will be treated according to the LAS PRIVACY POLICY.

Revisions to Rules and Procedures

These Rules and Procedures may be revised by the Scholarship Committee prior to the call for applications for the next set of awards.  Any revisions must be approved by the LAS Board of Directors.

Any information collected by the Lincoln Agricultural Society regarding members, exhibitors, commercial exhibitors, sponsors, directors and any other persons related directly to the business of the Lincoln Agricultural Society and the Lincoln County Fair, will be used solely for the purposes of promotion of the Lincoln Agricultural Society and the Lincoln County Fair, and for the maintenance of their files and data base.  Any member, exhibitor, commercial exhibitor, sponsor or director realizes that, when they agree to take part in the Lincoln Agricultural Society and the Lincoln County Fair, their names may be published for these reasons only.  None of this information whatsoever will be sold or transferred to any outside party for any other reason.
