Sunday, September 7, 2008 Chair: Nancy Smith (905 - 563-8322) RULES 1. Send entries to P.O. Box 981, Beamsville, Ontario LOR 1BO by August 29, 2008. Please include $6.00 membership fee unless retained from previous year. 2. Each exhibitor winning the sum of $10.00 or over in prize money will have $6.00 membership fee for next year deducted from their prize money. 3. An entry fee of 20% will be deducted from prize money won unless otherwise stated. 4. Sheep must be on the grounds not later than 10 am, Sunday, September 7, 2008 and must remain on grounds until 5 pm, Sunday, September 7, 2008. Judging to commence at 11 am. If any animal is taken from the grounds before specified time, the exhibitor of same may not be entitled to any prized which many have been awarded. 5. Entries limited to one entry per exhibitor per class, except that the Fair may authorize two entries per class to a maximum of two classes. 6. All sheep must be shown in short fleece (staple less than one inch), except long wool breeds. 7. Sheep must be shown in the ring (all classes) to qualify for prize money. 8. Exhibitor signs must be displayed. 9. Exhibitor may only exhibit in any two Sections (maximum of two breeds per breeding unit). Prizes: 1st - $30.00, 2nd - $25.00, 3rd - $20.00, 4th - $18.00, 5th - $15.00, 6th - $12.00, 7th - $10.00, 8th - $8.00 300 - Dorsets 301 - Suffolk 302 - Southdown 303 - Any other long wool breed 304 - Any other short wool breed Class [1] Yearling Ewe (3rd pair of temporary incisors must be in place). Class [2] Ewe Lamb (1st pair of temporary incisors must be in place). Born the property of the exhibitor. Class [3] Yearling Ram (3rd pair of temporary incisors must be in place). Class [4] Ram Lamb (1st pair of temporary incisors must be in place). Born the property of the exhibitor. Class [5] Get of Sire (born the property of the exhibitor). A group of three animals, first pair temporary incisors must be in place, by the same sire. Both sexes may be represented. Class [6] Breeder's Flock (bred and owned by exhibitor). A group of four animals. Both sexes to be represented. Each animal in the group must have been exhibited in one of the classes for single animals. All animals in a group to be of one breed.

Each exhibitor winning the sum of $12.00 or over in prize money will have $6.00 membership fee for next year deducted from their prize money. 3 An entry fee of 20% will be deducted from prize money won unless otherwise stated. 4 All goats must be in their pens by 9 am on Friday, September 5, 2008 in order that tattoos, registration certificates may be checked and must remain on grounds until 5 pm. If any animal is taken from the grounds before specified time, the exhibitor of same may not be entitled to any prized which many have been awarded. 5. There shall be a pre-show veterinary inspection which all animals must pass. The inspection will be held from 10 am to 11 am. 6. 4-H Goat Club Showmanship Project and Fun classes to begin at approximately 10:00 am. 7. Show Judging to commence at 11 am. 8. The base date for calculating the age of an animal to be shown is September 1. 9. Exhibitor signs should be displayed. 10. There will be no pre-show milkout. A doe with a hard, distended udder will be disqualified at the discretion of the Judge. 11. Exhibitors are requested to be neatly and appropriately attired (preferably in white) when showing their animals in the ring. 12. The maximum total eligible exhibits from a breeding unit is 10 head. Up to three animals from a breeding unit may be shown in two classes, otherwise only two exhibits per breeding unit are allowed in each class, up to the maximum. Prize money for Classes 1 through 7, except 6, is as follows: 1st - $30.00, 2nd - $25.00, 3rd - $20.00, 4th - $18.00, 5th - $15.00,6th - $12.00 Class 6: 1st - $30.00, 2nd - $25.00 A - Alpine L- Lamancha T - Toggenburg R - Recorded Grade O - Any other Purebred (Saanen, Nubian, Oberhasli) Class [1] Doe Kid: over three months and under nine months, never freshened. Class [2] Doe Kid: over nine months and under 24 months, never freshened. Class [3] Milking Yearling: over 12 months and under 24 months, in milk. Class [4] Doe: over 24 months and under 36 months, in milk. Class [5] Doe: over 36 months, in milk. GRAND CHAMPION AND RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION - Certificates Class [6] Best Udder Class: Judge shall designate the best two udders in each of the milking classes. These designated exhibits shall compete for 1st and 2nd places only. Class [7] Breeder's Herd: a group of four animals (bred and owned by the exhibitor), consisting of at least three milking does.
