THE LINCOLN COUNTY FAIR - SEPTEMBER 10 TO 12, 2010

IN MEMORIAM

Pat J. Brown

December 22, 1939 – February 28, 2010

Pat Brown 2010Pat’s involvement in the Lincoln County Fair spans a period of 35 to 40 years. She was an avid baker who also loved sewing, knitting and craft work. Her daughter describes Pat as a person who lived for the fairs, always preparing for the next year as soon as the current fair was over.

Local fairs were Pat’s favourite places to socialize, enjoy conversation and meet up with old friends. In many ways, Pat Brown lived for her time at the fairs.

Pat had a heart of gold. She took great pleasure in knitting and baking for others. She was close to her 5 children and 8 grandchildren.

She will be missed.

Ron Wormald

February 2, 1945 – December 2, 2009

Ron WormaldRon joined the poultry community around 1976. In 1980 he became a director on the fair board looking after the Harness Division, Heavy Horses and Harness Racing committees. He was also a member of the Grounds and Buildings Committee while remaining active on the Poultry Committee. In 1992 he began work at the food booth in the flea market and later worked to open other food stands around the fair grounds while remaining involved with his other committee work.

When Ron became ill in 1991 he didn’t give up. He helped where ever he could. When he was needed he was there, even during the 2009 fair when his condition worsened.

He always enjoyed the companionship of the directors and community volunteers. He took pleasure being involved in fair board projects such as the 2009 Rodeo and the 2008 RCMP Musical Ride. Ron enjoyed having his family, including his grand children, with him while he worked, thus the LAS gained an entire family of volunteers.

Ron will always be remembered for his great personality, kindness and willingness to be involved. Having the support of his friends and family helped him all the way to the end.

Ron became a Honourary Director of the Lincoln Agricultural Society in 1997.

Ron will always be in our memories and our thoughts.
