PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - 2012

President’s Message:

Greetings to you and thank you for taking the time to check us out on our web page.
Times have changed since I showed my first Hereford calf back in 1986 at the Lincoln County Fair. My fondest memory is of my Dad and I driving down the highway from Niagara-On-The-Lake with the cows Stephen Capellin the back of the truck and thinking, "My goodness, we are really going to show at the fair!"  A lot has changed since then. The fair will be moving to new grounds, I have some grey hair and I am now writing the LAS President’s Message for 2012.
Enough cannot be said about our Past President, Joe Kelter, for all the years of service and dedication he has given to the Society.  Joe has mentored many people on the board and his mentoring will continue as we move forward to bigger and better things.
This website is our Society’s voice. It is our fastest way of communicating with the public to keep you informed about our new ideas and facts about the fair.  Our Society is run completely by dedicated volunteers, a fact that is little daunting if you think about it.  Every year our volunteers are determined to present a most enjoyable and eventful fair to bring the best to the community that we can. All in all, our volunteers are like a family and we all have one goal in mind. That goal is for the Society to prosper and to run year after year.
Our past leaders have lead the way and brought us great success as we celebrate the 155th year of the Lincoln County Fair in 2012.
Times have been tough in agriculture, not only in the Niagara region, but across Canada as well. The Society’s goal is to keep agriculture in the forefront. The next time you head into the “big city” and you are following a car proudly adorned with that yellow bumper sticker, "Farmers Feed Cities", take a minute and think about what it is really saying to you. On your way back from the “big city”, turn down the path less traveled and see the dairy cows out in the pasture, the wheat fields ready for harvest, the fruit trees hung heavy with produce and remember those products that are just waiting for you to pick up locally. We at the Lincoln Agricultural Society remember that every time we plan another of Niagara’s Finest Agricultural Shows.
Please take time to review all of the information that our website offers and enjoy all that we, as an Agricultural Society do for the community.  Remember too, that as a visitor, a friend, or a new volunteer, you are always welcome. So please get involved.
Sincerely,
Stephen Capell
