RULES:

  1. Send entries to P.O. Box 981, Beamsville, Ontario L0R 1B0 by September 1, 2009. Please include $6.00 membership fee unless retained from previous year.
  2. Each exhibitor winning the sum of $12.00 or over in prize money will have $6.00 membership fee for next year deducted from their prize money.
  3. An entry fee of 20% will be deducted from prize money won unless otherwise stated.
  4. Sheep must be on the grounds not later than 11 am, Sunday, September 13, 2009 and must remain on the grounds until 5 pm, Sunday, September 13, 2009. Judging will commence at 1:00 pm. If any exhibit is removed from the grounds before above specified times, the exhibitor of same may not be entitled to any prizes which may have been awarded.
  5. Entries limited to one entry per exhibitor per class, except that the Fair may authorize two entries per class to a maximum of two classes.
  6. All sheep must be shown in short fleece (staple less than one inch), except long wool breeds.
  7. Sheep must be shown in the ring (all classes) to qualify for prize money.
  8. Exhibitor signs must be displayed.
  9. Exhibitor may only exhibit in any two Sections (maximum of two breeds per breeding unit.)

Class        Description

  1. Yearling Ewe (3rd pair of temporary incisors must be in place)
  2. Ewe Lamb (1st pair of temporary incisors must be in place) Born the property of the exhibitor.
  3. Yearling Ram (3rd pair of temporary incisors must be in place)
  4. Ram Lamb (1st pair of temporary incisors must be in place) Born the property of the exhibitor.
  5. Get of Sire (born the property of the exhibitor) A group of three animals, first pair temporary incisors must be in place, by the same sire. Both sexes may be represented.
  6. Breeder’s Flock (bred and owned by exhibitor) A group of four animals. Both sexes to be represented. Each animal in the group must have been exhibited in one of the classes for single animals. All animals in a group to be of one breed
  7. Dorset Champion Ram. Entries to be the 1st place winners of Classes 3 & 4 from Section 300 above. Winners will receive rosettes only.
  8. Dorset Champion Ewe. Entries to be the 1st place winners of Classes 1& 2 from Section 300 above. Winners will receive rosettes only
  9. Suffolk Champion Ram. Entries to be the 1st place winners of Classes 3 & 4 from Section 301. Winners will receive rosettes only
  10. Suffolk Champion Ewe. Entries to be the 1st place winners of Classes 1& 2 from Section 301 above. Winners will receive rosettes only
  11. Champion Southdown Ram. Entries to be the 1st place winners of Classes 3 & 4 from Section 302 above. Winners will receive rosettes only
  12. Champion Southdown Ewe. Entries to be the 1st place winners of Classes 1 & 2 from Section 302 above. Winners will receive rosettes only
  13. Champion Any Other Long Wood Breed Ram. Entries to be the 1st place winners of Classes 3 & 4 from Section 303. Winners will receive rosettes only
  14. Champion Any Other Long Wood Breed Ewe. Entries to be the 1st place winners of Classes 1 & 2 from Section 303. Winners will receive rosettes only
  15. Champion Any Other Short Wood Breed Ram. Entries to be the 1st place  winners of Classes 3 & 4 from Section 304. Winners will receive rosettes only
  16. Champion Any Other Short Wood Breed Ewe. Entries to be the 1st place  winners of Classes 1 & 2 from Section 304. Winners will receive rosettes only
  17. Grand Champion Ram of the Lincoln County Fair. Entries must be the winners of classes 7, 9, 11, 13, & 15.
  18. Grand Champion Ewe of the Lincoln County Fair. Entries must be the winners of classes 8, 10, 12, 14, & 16.
  19. Market Lamb (Lambs not to exceed 110 pounds.) Animals exhibited in class (19) may not be entered in any breeding class above.
 

SPECIAL

Future Shepherd's Novice Sheep Show.

Classes

  1. Five (5) years and under
  2. Six (6) to Nine (9) years
  3. Ten (10) to Fourteen (14) years

Prizes for each Future Shepherd's Class - 1st - $10, 2nd - $7.50, all other entries - $5.

All Future Shepherds Class prizes will be paid in cash at the show.

GOATS

RULES:

  1. Please refer to General Rules and Regulations of the Lincoln County Fair. (See Pg 5)
  2. An entry fee of 20% will be deducted from prize money won unless otherwise stated.
  3. All goats must be in their pens by 9 am on Friday, September 11, 2009 in order that tattoos and registration certificates may be checked, and must remain on grounds until 5 pm. If any animal is taken from the ground before specified time, the exhibitor of same may not be entitled to any prizes which may have been awarded.
  4. There shall be a pre-show veterinary inspection which all animals must pass. The inspection will be held from 10 am to 11 am.
  5. 4-H Goat Club Showmanship Project and Fun classes to begin at approximately 10 am.
  6. Show judging to commence at 11 am.
  7. The base date for calculating the age of an animal to be shown in September 1.
  8. Exhibitor signs should be displayed.
  9. There will be no pre-show milk out. A doe with a hard, distended udder will be disqualified at the discretion of the Judge.
  10. Exhibitors are requested to be neatly and appropriately attired (preferably in white) when showing their animals in the ring.
  11. The maximum total eligible exhibits from a breeding unit are 10 head. Up to three animals from a breeding unit may be shown in two classes, otherwise only two exhibits per breeding unit are allowed in each class, up to the maximum.

Class        Description

  1. Doe Kid: over three months and under nine months, never freshened.
  2. Doe Kid: over nine months and under 24 months, never freshened.
  3. Milking Yearling: over 12 months and under 24 months, in milk
  4. Doe: over 24 months and under 36 months, in milk.
  5. Doe: over 36 months, in milk.

GRAND CHAMPION AND RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION – Certificates

  1. Best Udder Class: Judging shall designate the best two udders in each of the milking classes. These designated exhibits shall compete for 1st and 2nd places only.
  2. Breeder’s Herd: a group of four animals (bred and owned by the exhibitor), consisting of at least three milking does.
